As a General Practitioner (GP), it's essential to approach the topic of mental health with sensitivity and care. When assessing whether a patient is willing to seek therapy for mental health challenges, you can ask questions in a non-judgmental and empathetic manner. There are many reason that this topic is a difficult one to raise.. too many to list here.

Being ready and having a couple of questions already to go may help anyone faced with encouraging an individual to reach out for support.

"I understand that you've been facing some challenges lately. How has your mental health been affecting your daily life?"

"Are you open to discussing your feelings and emotions to explore potential solutions and support?"

"Have you ever considered talking to a mental health professional or therapist about what you're going through?"

"Would you be willing to explore therapy or counseling as a way to address your mental health concerns?"

"What are your thoughts on seeking professional help for mental health?
